About this deal

The Jooki is a less commonly known WiFi based music player. Used with Spotify or Deezer, you can connect your playlists to the characters which then automatically play it when they’re placed on the top of a player. It can also be used as a bluetooth speaker. This a question that has been asked in my parenting group, so I thought I’d answer it here as well as I can! You access the Bluetooth speaker by changing the settings in the Yoto Player app to allow bluetooth pairing and following the instructions (press left hand button in for three seconds to pair). The Yoto Player can be used whilst charging and once fully charged the battery will last approximately eight hours. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them, and have done to my own family and friends. If you want to buy the Yoto Player, you can do so via their online shop here. GET 5% OFF A YOTO PLAYER OR YOTO MINI USING THE CODE AFF-WHINGE5 HERE.

Recently there has been an explosion of intuitive, screen-free audio players for children on the market. We have reviewed several of these; the tonies Toniebox, the Jooki and the Timio. The latest is the Yoto Player. The son took to it immediately(once the parents had easily set up some music associations to the tokens via the phone app), loving that he can switch out music on command in such an easy and fun way(for a 2-3 year old it is extremely accessible). The parents loved it...so much the father commandeered one of the tokens just for his favorite podcast! Their nanny was head over heels about it, so much so that she was telling all her other clients about it. Everyone really liked that it came with five tokens and not just two or three(the tokens are such cute figurines!). Also a big hit was that it was so flexible about music sources. That you could load up a micro-sd card so that you didn't need wifi, but also it could play online playlists and podcasts from Spotify and not some proprietary service. Press once for the daily podcast. It’s is only a few minutes long but it’s a nice touch and the kids enjoy listening to the riddles and child-friendly content which changes every day. Suggestion to jooki. Please really improve on the connection method of this product. I'm not exactly illiterate (I'm an IT engineer) and I didn't find it user friendly at all.Both ‘boxes’ are easy to use and intuitive for smaller kids. The toniebox is softer, so good for toddlers. It also looks nice and comes in a range of colours to suit any child’s bedroom. However the Yoto Player does everything that the toniebox does, and more. You can choose your Yoto Club Cards whenever you want them, and keep the Club Credits for up to 12 months. The Yoto Player is extremely easy for children to use as there are just three buttons; an on/off button on the side, and two on the top which you use to adjust the volume and move between chapters.

Similar to the tonies Toniebox, the Yoto Player is a box-shaped speaker system which plays audio content from pre-loaded cards. So what did we think, and which one would we recommend? Read on! to get to the 3 star at this point everything must be fully ok...it's not. the orange buttons only work if you rotate them fully. for this you need a certain strength and dexterity. so my 3 year old son is completely frustrated and sad because he keeps rotating the knob but never enough for it to work.

Should You Buy a Jooki Player?

Although the cards might not be as cute and collectible as the tonies characters, they are around half the price per story as well as being easier to store. Simply remove the card to pause play. Even a very young child will be able to do this on their own giving them a sense of being in charge, which they’ll love. It is quite large and bulky, and we sometimes had trouble connecting it to our wifi. You have to provide the content; you can’t buy stories etc. Read more about the Jooki audio player in our review here. The Jooki children’s audio player is not currently available to buy in the UK. The TIMIO

Jooki is the favorite educational toy for 3yo+, fostering their imagination with music and storytelling. Jooki is the favorite 3-to-9 years old educational toy that fosters their imagination with music & storytelling, and helps build the core foundation for their future. From the Jooki app, parents will be able to connect Jooki to a new Wi-Fi network (Jooki will remember up to 8 networks), connect Jooki to a wireless headset or speaker, enable or disable the volume limitation compatible with 3-year-old toy safety standards, and turn off Jooki remotely.My wife and I bought this for a couple we know who just had their second child. Their first son(who is almost 3) had been feeling left out in all of the activities of his new brother, so we thought this might be a good way to take some pressure off of the parents and give the older son some autonomy and distraction. The software is constantly being updated and improved meaning it should get better over time, for free – and last a lot longer, growing with your child. First up, the tonies Toniebox. The tonies is probably the best known of the children’s audio players due to a very successful marketing campaign. It’s relatively large and soft and squishy, and comes with cute characters which you can place on top to hear stories and music. The Yoto Player is easy to set up; switch it on, pop in the credit-card sized ‘welcome card’ and listen to the instructions which will lead you through the different features (in a pleasingly British accent – I’m not a huge fan of toys which come with American voices so I liked this!). There’s an app which gives you step by step instructions for pairing it to your home wifi and we managed this first time. Features of the Yoto Player It feels really well built and rugged and apparently it's splash proof! Which, given toddler usage, seems like a great feature.

So after you connect with bluetooth you need to configure the Wifi. this wifi is one of your choice but typically the one from your home. this means again, that you give access to your home wifi to an unknown box that does an unknown number of things. The TIMIO is worthy of a mention. Aimed at slightly younger children (aged 3-8 years) the TIMIO comes with pre-loaded ‘discs’ with a selection of songs, stories and words for vocabulary building which can be played in English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese and Dutch. The longevity puts the Yoto Player above the toniebox for all but very young children in my personal opinion. Jooki is the only high-quality speaker that gives kids safe, screen-free access to streaming audio content. The Yoto Player box is fairly compact, made from hard plastic with a rubber bottom and a simple pixel display on the front. It can be positioned in a number of ways – on the base, tilted or down on its front as above.The reason it get a 2 star instead of a one star is the fact that once you get it working properly, and you're able to send the MP3 files (you can also use spotify, which I didn't want) it's really easy to use and the sound quality is not so bad. It’s soft and comes in a range of fun colours. The characters are appealing to children and the audioplayer is really simple and easy to use even for younger children. You can also use the app change the volume and display settings, visit the card store, read news and troubleshoot. Your library is stored in your app so that if you happen to lose or snap a card (I would imagine this is very hard as they’re similar to credit cards, but you know kids…) you can play it directly from the app. While the Jooki is awesome and is a great concept, we are disappointed by the control buttons on it. They are difficult to use/ to turn when choosing/skipping a song. Such an expensive item should be easy-to-use for the child who uses it, but it is even difficult for an adult to use. The button needs to be turned A LOT to skip a song and the tokens on the Jooki can get in the way. A different system should be used to skip the songs. verifyErrors }}{{ message }}{{ /verifyErrors }}{{
